The Women’s Civic League of Portage awards two $2000.00 scholarships to two students of Portage High School who will be attending a four year college or university. The recipients this year are Hayden Breene and Austin Davies.
Hayden Breene is the son of Paul and Kathleen Breene and plans to attend the University of Wisconsin – Madison and study physics. He plans on becoming a college professor and share things he has learned along the way with bright young students. He wants to inspire students to study science the way he was inspired by two of his science teachers, Mrs. Karpelenia in seventh grade, and Mr. Pleasants his physics teacher at Portage High School.
Austin Davies is the son of David and Michelle Davies and plans to attend the University of Minnesota at Rochester. He is planning to receive a Bachelor of Science in Health Services and become a primary care physician. Many people have inspired him to follow his dreams and passions including Dr. Luskin who helped him with health issues as a young person and his grandfather who fearlessly pursued the activities he loved to do.
The Women’s Civic League of Portage extends best wishes to Hayden and Austin for a successful and rewarding college experience.
